Location: Rochdale
Pay: Β£14.82 per hour PAYE, rising to Β£15.15 per hour after 12 weeks
Hours: Tuesday to Friday, 6:30am start
Contract: Ongoing Temporary
Start: Immediate starts available
Bamford Contract Services are currently recruiting HGV Class 2 Drivers to work within Rochdale Council's waste and recycling team.
This is an excellent opportunity for experienced HGV class 2 drivers looking for ongoing work, consistent hours and the opportunity to work for the local council.
The HGV Class 2 Driver Role
You will be responsible for driving a refuse collection vehicle as part of a waste collection crew, working alongside a couple of bin loaders to collect public waste across Rochdale.
HGV Class 2 Driver Duties will include:
- Driving HGV refuse collection vehicles safely and responsibly
- Working as part of a three-person waste collection team
- Collecting household and public waste
- Operating the vehicle in accordance with site and road safety procedures
- Carrying out daily vehicle checks
- Working alongside loaders to ensure collections are completed efficiently
- On occasion, assisting with loading duties when required
- Maintaining a professional approach when working in public area
- If you are required to work as a loader, you will still be paid the full driver's rate.
HGV Class 2 Driver Requirements xgikmsk
- HGV Class 2 / Category C licence
- Previous HGV driving experience
- Minimum age of 21 for insurance purposes
- Maximum of 6 penalty points
- No DR10 or IN10 endorsements
- Good understanding of road safety and vehicle checks
- Reliable and punctual
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Waste/refuse collection experience is preferred but not essential
