About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Butcher to join our team at Daylesford Farm Shop. In this hands-on role, you will play a vital part in delivering outstanding-quality meat products and an exceptional customer experience. You’ll take pride in your craft, uphold the highest food safety standards, and confidently communicate our farming values to customers.
Salary & Hours
- Salary: Up to £30,000 DOE + Tronc
- Hours: 40 hours per week, full-time
Key Responsibilities
- Actively promote the values, ethos, and sustainable farming practices of Daylesford when engaging with customers.
- Champion the quality, provenance, and freshness of our meat products.
- Maintain an attractive, high-standard butchery counter and pre-pack displays, aligned with store planograms.
- Deliver consistently excellent customer service, ensuring every interaction is welcoming and informative.
- Provide a swift, efficient, and knowledgeable butchery service in line with all retail and food safety standards.
- Maintain exceptional hygiene and display standards, completing all opening, closing, and due diligence procedures.
- Demonstrate strong knife skills, including poultry portioning, deboned cuts, and full carcase breakdowns.
- Maintain tight stock control, minimising waste through accurate rotation, date checks, and proactive quality control.
Skills & Experience
- Meat Cutting Expertise: Confident in cutting, deboning, trimming, and portioning a wide range of meats.
- Knife Skills: Highly proficient and safety-conscious with all cutting tools.
- Product Knowledge: Strong understanding of meat quality, freshness, and provenance.
- Customer Focus: Friendly, engaging, and confident in advising customers and taking orders.
- Food Safety: Excellent knowledge of hygiene, safety, and compliance standards.
- Stock Management: Experience in inventory control, ordering, and waste reduction.
- Presentation: Skilled in creating attractive, well-merchandised displays.
- Traditional Butchery Techniques: Experience in sausage making, curing, and smoking is advantageous.
