Hours: 40 hours per week

About the Role: This is a full-time, hands-on leadership role responsible for the presentation and maintenance of approximately 20 acres surrounding the Farm Shop, Event Spaces, Spa, Private Club and production units. The grounds include formal hedges, topiary, orchards, lawns, large planters, raised beds, flower beds, outside dining areas and car parks, all maintained to an exceptionally high standard befitting one of the UK's most respected organic Farmshop destinations. Working closely with and supporting Groundscare Head Gardener and Manager, you will help lead a professional, passionate and well-equipped team that takes great pride in delivering the immaculate standards our stakeholders and customers expect every day.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all tree, hedge, grass and weed management across the site, ensuring consistent presentation throughout the seasons.
  • Ensure all gates, fencing and signage across the site are kept clean, well-maintained and in good repair, reporting any damage or required works to the Groundscare Manager.
  • Ensure the Heritage House and Chelsea Garden event spaces are always kept immaculate and event-ready, working in close collaboration with the Events Team.
  • Support the Head of the Market Garden in maintaining all Market Garden event areas to the required standard of presentation.
  • Take ownership of the cleanliness, organisation and day-to-day running of the Maintenance Shed, ensuring it is kept orderly and fit for purpose at all times.

Skills & Requirements: You will bring proven experience in the management and maintenance of high-quality green spaces, with a working knowledge of lawns, topiary, hedges, orchards, planters and formal garden features. A genuine passion for horticulture, an eye for detail and a commitment to cleanliness and presentation are essential. You will be physically fit, enjoy working outdoors in all conditions, and thrive as part of a close-knit team that holds itself to the highest standards. Previous experience in a similar role is essential, and a formal qualification in horticulture or a related discipline would be advantageous but not essential. Horticultural training is offered to the right candidate.
