Wrightbus Refurbishment supports Wrightbus as the fastest growing manufacturing company in Europe. We are therefore recruiting a Quality Technician for the Bicester, Oxfordshire site.

The Quality Inspector plays a critical role in ensuring that all vehicles manufactured meet company and regulatory quality standards. This position is responsible for inspecting components, assemblies, and finished products to identify defects, enforce quality control processes, and collaborate with production teams to maintain high standards of workmanship.

The Role:

  • Quality Inspection, Auditing & Testing: Conduct inspections of inbound vehicles, materials, in-process production, and finished vehicles to ensure compliance with specifications. Perform functional and safety tests on electrical, mechanical, and structural components of buses. Use measuring tools and testing equipment to verify dimensions, tolerances, and performance criteria. Identify and document defects, deviations, and non-conformities, and ensure corrective actions are taken.
  • Process & Compliance Monitoring: Ensure compliance with company quality standards, customer specifications, safety regulations, and industry requirements. Assist in the development and enforcement of standard operating procedures (WMPs) for quality assurance. Conduct audits and assessments of manufacturing processes to identify areas for improvement. Maintain detailed records of vehicle data, inspections, test results, and corrective actions taken. Prepare quality reports and present findings to supervisors and production teams. Assist in root cause analysis and the development of preventive measures. Evaluate and approve new/existing suppliers through supplier audits. Ensure all rectification/rework is carried out and meets agreed standards. Implementation of all relevant processes and procedures within the QMS. Communicate with personnel at all levels, internally and externally in relation to Quality matters.
  • Continuous Improvement: Support continuous improvement initiatives by providing feedback on quality trends and recurring issues. Communicate with all departments to eliminate defects at the source. Identify root causes of any relevant issues and implement solutions with operators or other departments to prevent re-occurrence. Identify any operator training needs required to meet WMP/quality standards and refer to Level 4 operators and/or Safety Auditors to undertake training. Where necessary, complete the relevant training record. Provide feedback on any of the issues above to allow Quality documentation to be updated and to carry forward lessons learned.
  • Soft Skills: Ability to use computer systems such as office and app-based software. Work closely with production, engineering, and maintenance teams to resolve quality concerns. Provide training and guidance to assembly line workers on quality standards and best practices. Participate in team meetings and contribute to process improvement discussions. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
