The role requires an open and adaptable approach to developing solutions, together with excellent communication and collaboration skills. We need people who can distil the most complex engineering concepts into plain English in a logical way with our customers in mind. You will be a key member of bid teams, shaping winning responses.
You will organise and facilitate writing workshops, comply with bid programmes and process and present high quality content for review.
Your team involves a mixture of working from our office in Wellingborough, from home and frequently from project offices in other locations, so some travel will be necessary.
Making PossibleDevelop and finalise high scoring tender responses on time:
- Comply with the proposals development process and programme defined by the lead writer/proposals manager, including for any pre‑bid stage.
- Attend all workshops and meetings as requested by the lead writer/proposals manager.
- Establish a thorough understanding of client objectives and develop responses in line with the proposals win strategy.
- Organise and facilitate collaborative writing workshops with section owners, contributors and other relevant people.
- Collaborate with section owners to develop a pink review and red review responses, complying with the bid programme.
- In collaboration with our Graphics team, produce high quality response graphics.
- Integrate review comments into developing responses.
- Finalise tender responses by bid programme deadlines.
- Contribute to any post‑bid lessons learned exercise.
- Contribute to the development of case studies and the Work Winning Hub.
- Complete project, framework or business/function case studies as requested. This may require site visits and visits to other offices.
- Contribute to the Work Winning Hub, including the development of answer guidance, as requested.
Understand what differentiates BAM. Keep up‑to‑date with developments and innovations across the company and integrate the latest thinking into tender responses.
Other dutiesComplete work for other ad hoc requests from within the Proposals team.
What do you bring to the role?We are looking for a senior writer who can step straight into complex bid environments. You will have demonstrated your ability to produce high scoring tender responses for major infrastructure clients.
Qualifications & Experience:- Degree level or equivalent qualification (preferred), APMP Foundation level (preferred).
- Thorough knowledge of major infrastructure projects, clients and client drivers.
- Extensive experience of developing high scoring tender responses for major infrastructure bids following APMP principles.
- Collaboration in large tender teams (including JVs), subject matter experts and section owners.
- Proven ability to design and lead collaborative writing workshops.
- Development of case studies and quantified evidence.
- Working knowledge of how AI can aid proposal development.
