BAM UK & Ireland is recruiting a Procurement Manager who can strengthen our existing Supply Chain Management and Procurement team undertaking procurement activities for Construction projects in the London region. The role is based in our City Point office in Central London with travel nationally when required to other BAM offices and project sites.

The goal is to develop a 'best in class' procurement function which supports the BAM strategy of focus, transform & expand, the Divisional Procurement strategy and objectives and leverages our scale whilst de-risking the delivery of the portfolio through the supply chain. The Procurement Manager will support the Group Procurement Strategy in order to create value, achieve the objectives of the sustainability strategy, lower risks and drive higher margins through proactive management, collaboration and knowledge sharing.

To be effective in this role, you will have:

  • Excellent stakeholder management skills
  • Proven experience in a senior Supply Chain Management role, preferably in a project-oriented environment with a focus on strategic partnerships
  • The ability to understand both divisional and local procurement requirements and be able to balance these for mutual benefit
  • The ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels of the organisation with ease
  • A natural comfort in working in a collaborative manner and a desire to seek opportunities to develop synergies across the Construction segment and the wider Royal BAM Group
  • A good awareness of construction vendors both subcontract and materials and sources internationally
  • Experience and understanding of sub-contract procurement to aid the successful implementation of Supply Chain Management
  • An understanding of all forms of contracts
  • An element of national travel may be required to fulfil this role

Your role will include but will not be exclusive to:

  • Ensuring our supply chain are aligned with the business needs and strategy
  • Ensuring the supply chain management procurement function is engaged at every stage of the project lifecycle, thereby enabling the adoption of BAM Construction procurement strategies
  • Support development of Category Management and promote compliance through better use of framework agreements with preferred suppliers
  • Support and enhance business initiatives including the acceleration of Modern Methods of Construction
  • Collaborating with the Sustainability team to support and deliver the 'Building a Sustainable Tomorrow' strategy through the supply chain
  • Maintaining and expanding our strategic partnerships with local SMEs
  • Promoting knowledge share within the UK
  • Standardising supply chain management and procurement practices
  • Promoting a divisional way of working
  • Liaising and promoting the services of the following new departments, which will be established at Divisional level: Supply Chain Shared Services, Category Management, Supply Chain Management Systems

What do you bring to the role?

  • Educated to a degree level in an Engineering, Commercial or Business related discipline
  • Preferably MCIPS Qualified
  • Proven ability to lead whole life cycle procurement activities for major infrastructure frameworks including civils works, building construction and mechanical and electrical related scope
  • Experienced in developing Procurement Strategies and Procurement Plans in collaboration with key stakeholders
  • Preparation of supply chain management data and procurement reports for presentation to the Senior Leadership Team including carbon intensity reporting in the supply chain (Scope 3)
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships
  • The ability to build, maintain and influence relationships at all levels of the organisation with ease
  • Provide assurance support to the BAM UK & Ireland Tender Desk function
  • A natural comfort in working in a collaborative manner and a desire to seek opportunities to develop synergies across our business
  • A good awareness of supply chain vendors, for both subcontract and materials procurement including through international sourcing opportunities
  • Promote and support Category Management and drive compliance through better use of framework agreements and preferred suppliers including seeking appropriate opportunities through regional and SME supply chain networks.
  • Competent with all forms of contract including JCT and NEC4
  • Excellent numeracy skills
  • Competent using Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Competent in the use of Jaggaer, Constructionline and SAP including SAP Materials Management
  • Experience and understanding of sub-contract procurement processes
  • Ability to conduct effective communications at all levels within the business
