BAM UK and Ireland is recruiting a Construction Director (with a Technical focus) to be based in the London Region. This is an excellent career opportunity for an individual who wants to bring dynamism and creativity to our construction activities and help shape the future strategic direction of our business. Reporting to the Regional Director, and as a member of the Senior Management Team, you will lead on various Technical requirements across the region.

Making Possible Safety
  • Lead and promote a strong Safe & Well culture across the region
  • Monitor performance, report KPIs, and share best practice
  • Ensure H&S training compliance and lead regional safety forums
Technical Assurance & Temporary Works
  • Oversee technical quality and compliance with standards and stage gates
  • Provide guidance on engineering issues and independent reviews
  • Act as Regional DI for Temporary Works, ensuring procedures, training, and reporting
Engineering Leadership
  • Lead the regional engineering team
  • Allocate appropriate technical resources to projects
  • Support delivery teams with expert guidance
Quality Assurance
  • Drive defect-free delivery and implement quality strategies
  • Manage risks, embed quality controls, and standardise procurement
  • Ensure compliance with regulations and promote best practice
Aftercare & Continuous Improvement
  • Lead aftercare and resolve defects efficiently
  • Support clients post-handover and embed lessons learned
  • Promote consistency through systems, processes, and training
Stakeholders & Business Support
  • Maintain strong communication with clients and internal teams
  • Support business assurance, early careers, and sustainability initiatives
  • Provide regular, accurate reporting to senior leadership

Your team will involve a mixture of working from the London office, projects and home. BAM Operate a flexible working policy.

  • Demonstrable experience working at a senior level
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively engage with clients and external consultants while building relationships internally and externally
  • Understanding of both private and public sector project procurement processes
  • Comfortable working in a time-critical, fast-moving environment
  • Ability to manage a multi-disciplinary team
  • Effective and persuasive internal and external communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and provide focus, direction and solutions where required
