BAM UK and Ireland are looking for a Regional Director - Scotland to join our Scotland Region to be based from any of the regions offices on a hybrid basis. This role is intended to drive greater emphasis on managing and leading the business to become a market leader in the UK and Ireland. The Regional Director will be required to provide senior leadership and strategic direction for the Region, achieving our safety, sustainability, and financial goals through the effective management of people, projects, supply chain and clients, in line with our divisional strategy.

Making Possible
  • Develop and iteratively review the Regional and client strategy, ensuring alignment with the UK & Ireland divisional strategic priorities.
  • Prepare and make presentations and status reports to describe strategic priorities, evaluate performance and agree future objectives.
  • Implement the required governance and project controls to ensure that reporting is transparent and accurate, and that project performance and outcomes are predictable.
  • Track, measure, analyse and improve financial performance through well-developed risk, cost, value and cash controls and other commercial tools.
  • Provide direction and leadership to all operational staff, ensuring compliance with BAM standards and processes and managing them effectively and efficiently.
  • Support key strategic decision-making to support the strategic direction of the business, including providing the best of BAM to all clients and growing new and existing core markets.
  • Complete strategic risk reviews and monitor the closure of mitigating actions to provide direction and leadership to all senior staff, ensuring compliance with BAM standards and processes and is managed effectively and efficiently.
  • Act as a representative at the Divisional leadership team as required.
  • Manage and develop talent, ensuring employees can realise their potential and that effective succession strategies are in place to build strength and resilience.
  • Be a visible champion of a safe and inclusive high-performance culture that attracts clients, suppliers, and employees to work with BAM and see BAM as a long-term strategic player in the industry.
  • Effective business planning and controls to ensure the success of work-winning, construction, procurement, and development activity.
  • Develop core capabilities and new innovations and partnerships to improve the range and value of services provided by BAM.
  • Inspire, inform and implement our sustainability strategy and methodology to make all our projects low emission, low waste, and high biodiversity.

Your team: The Regional Director is a senior role that will report directly to the BAM Segment Executive Director. This role will be part of the Segment Senior Leadership Team and will play a key role in the formulation and achievement of the overall business strategy, supporting both the divisional and segment purpose, vision, mission and overall objectives.

  • Experience working within the built environment or associated industries.
  • A good understanding of building regulations, legal obligations and associated forms of contract (NEC, JCT, FIDIC etc).
  • A good knowledge of construction methods and materials.
  • Experience of leading and managing people and organisational development.
  • Experience of supporting business growth.
  • Experience in developing and executing business strategies at an appropriate level required for the role.
  • Experience leading and collaborating within teams to achieve common goals and foster high performance.
  • Well-developed analytical, oral and presentation/communication skills.
  • The ability to formulate commercial plans and create engagement and commitment to deliver.
