Building a sustainable tomorrow. The Ferrovial BAM Joint Venture (FBJV) has been awarded the contracts to deliver one of the most significant infrastructure programmes in Europe - the HS2 Track Systems contract. Spanning 140 miles between Old Oak Common and Birmingham Curzon Street, the project will deliver the design, installation and commissioning of high-speed track infrastructure capable of supporting speeds of up to 360 km/h (225 mph). This includes approximately 280 miles of track, alongside complex logistics, systems integration, and testing and commissioning responsibilities. Lot 3 represents a critical section of the route into Birmingham, placing you at the heart of a nationally significant programme that will transform connectivity, capacity and economic growth across the UK.
Working within a collaborative Rail Systems Alliance, FBJV brings together world‑class expertise from BAM and Ferrovial, building on a proven track record spanning Crossrail, HS2 enabling works and main works, and the Silvertown Tunnel. We are seeking an exceptional Project Commercial Director to lead the commercial strategy and delivery for Lot 3, a major and complex section of the HS2 Track Systems programme. This is a career-defining leadership role, offering the opportunity to shape commercial outcomes on a multi-hundred-million-pound infrastructure project, operating at the forefront of the UK's transport transformation.

- Building collaborative relationships across the Alliance to deliver shared success
Your team: Candidates will be based in HS2's Birmingham office and may be required to visit client offices in London, located near Euston Station on occasion. We recognise the importance of flexibility and will consider flexible working arrangements following an initial team integration period on an individual basis, reviewing requests in line with project needs and BAM's Flexible working policy.
Making Possible: As Project Commercial Director, you will be responsible for the following:
- Provide strategic commercial leadership for Lot 3, aligning with overall FBJV and HS2 objectives
- Lead all commercial activities including procurement, cost management, change control, and contract administration
- Maximise value and minimise risk through proactive commercial management and governance
- Partner with project leadership to drive performance, programme certainty and successful delivery
- Manage key stakeholder relationships including HS2 Ltd, supply chain partners and JV stakeholders
- Promote a collaborative, high-performance culture aligned to alliance principles
What do you bring to the role? We are looking for a commercially astute leader with the credibility and experience to operate at senior level within a major infrastructure environment. You will bring:
- Significant experience delivering large-scale infrastructure projects (typically £300m+)
- A strong track record in commercial leadership roles on complex, multidisciplinary programmes
- Excellent knowledge of contract forms (e.g. NEC) and commercial best practice
- Experience in joint venture or alliance environments (desirable but not essential)
- Outstanding leadership, negotiation and stakeholder management skills
- The ability to influence at executive level and drive high-performing teams
What's in it for you?
- Competitive salary
- A wide range of family‑friendly policies
