BAM UK&I is looking for quantity surveying students wishing to complete a 2026 Summer placement.

Summer Placements: 8‑12 week placement anytime from May 2026 to September 2026.

Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the end‑to‑end delivery of subcontract packages from tender through procurement, day‑to‑day management and final account.
  • Supporting the internal and external reporting process.
  • Supporting the budgeting and forecasting process.
  • Identifying and supporting the evaluation of change.
  • Supporting the project risk management strategy.
  • Cost monitoring.
  • Communicating effectively at all levels including site management, technical specialists, commercial staff, planners, engineers, supervisory staff, operatives, suppliers, third parties and client representatives.
  • Maintaining good working relations with clients, designers, supply chain and others.
  • Gaining practical experience by visiting project sites, witnessing the construction process first‑hand.
  • Maintaining high personal standards in health & safety.
  • Maintaining high standards in environmental awareness and behaviour.

Your team: Be part of the landmark national infrastructure project HS2, delivering critical rail track infrastructure along the London to Birmingham route – about 140 miles of new high‑speed line. This role places you at the heart of engineering that supports up to 225 mph operation, combining large‑scale civil construction, precision rail systems and sustainable delivery. You will join a team dedicated to low‑carbon construction, including innovations such as double‑composite viaducts that reduce embedded carbon in concrete and steel.
