Responsibilities
- Procurement of subcontract packages
- Assembling enquiry documentation
- Obtaining and analysing subcontractor quotations and making recommendations
- Making payments to subcontractors
- Commercial control of subcontract packages
- Support main contract valuation preparation
- Assist in the monthly and quarterly forecast reporting process
- Agree final accounts for subcontract packages
- Support and contribute to project risk and opportunity planning
- Maintain a professional approach with clients, professional teams, subcontractors and suppliers
- Seek opportunities and development in design to improve overall project delivery
- Manage client valuations and variations through to agreeing the final account
- Maintain client and consultant professional relationships
- Ensure compliance with contract requirements
- Work closely and collaboratively with the project manager and team to ensure successful delivery and financial outcome
- Involve in developing design and procurement strategies to maximise opportunities and minimise risk
- Identify key project risks and opportunities, together with risk mitigation strategies
- Produce monthly and quarterly cost reports including margin projections and cash‑flow forecasts
- Ensure compliance with business requirements and best practice procedures
- Produce monthly valuations and agree with client representatives
- Measure, valuate and negotiate client variations
- Prepare and negotiate project final accounts
- Foster and maintain professional relationships with clients, consultants and supply chain partners
Qualifications
- Demonstrable, proven track record working for a main contractor in the construction industry
- Qualified at degree level and/or working towards MRICS, MCIOB, or equivalent professional level
- Comfortable working initially as a no.2 surveyor in a commercial team, willing to contribute to all project success factors
- Positive, proactive individual who works collaboratively with colleagues and client team
- Expert negotiator with keen eye for detail
- Excellent communication skills
- Confident and experienced in Microsoft Excel & Word
- Experience with BIM and computer‑aided measurement tools
- In‑depth experience of preparing valuations, variations and final accounts; managing sub‑contract accounts & procurement; working within company best practice procedures; understanding implications of health and safety regulations
