We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Safety Manager to join our team on the Eastern Green Link 2 (EGL2) project, based in Wren Hall, Selby (North Yorkshire).
This major infrastructure project involves the construction of a 525kV, 2GW high-voltage direct current (HVDC) subsea transmission cable, connecting Peterhead, Scotland, to Wren Hall, Selby (North Yorkshire). As part of this development, BAM Infrastructure is responsible for delivering the engineering works for two HVDC converter stations.

As Project Safety Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that the highest standards of health and safety are maintained throughout the project. Your responsibilities will include:
- Supervising, supporting, and guiding all safety advisors.
- Ensuring that safety systems and plans meet relevant safety standards.
- Making sure safety issues are addressed during project review meetings.
- Advising and guiding relevant personnel in the setup and maintenance of safety systems.
- Keeping clear records in compliance with company internal audit standards.
- Assisting managers with safety submissions, risk assessments, and vendor evaluations.
- Communicating and promoting the health and safety management ethos and concepts across the project.
- Delivering training to ensure all personnel are informed and compliant.
- Ensuring the project operates in accordance with statutory health and safety documentation.
- Preparing and submitting the monthly safety report in the agreed format.
- Carrying out regular site safety inspections.
- Identifying areas for improvement and issues, and escalating them to the project team.
- Monitoring the adequacy of accident investigation and reporting procedures.
- Conducting safety audits to ensure compliance and continual improvement.
- Liaising directly with the Project Manager on all health and safety matters.
Your qualifications, skills and experience should include:
- Successful experience as a Project Safety Manager and as supervisor or an engineer within a construction environment, qualification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g. NEBOSH Diploma) or related discipline or appropriate proven knowledge and experience (minimum of 3 years).
- Able to communicate at all levels within the project organisation.
- Able to deliver any health and safety training as instructed by the head of health and safety.
- Able to act as a team leader.
- Thorough knowledge of OHSAS 45001 standards.
- Chartered membership of IOSH.
- Capable of leading accident investigations.
- Business acumen with full understanding of the commercial impact of decisions.
- Knowledge and experience of operational activities (overhead, underground and substation) on transmission/distribution networks is desirable
