KierBAM are a Joint Venture (JV) partnership between Kier and BAM UK & Ireland. BAM UK & Ireland's infrastructure segment is currently delivering the redevelopment project at a Royal Navy site located in Plymouth and we are seeking a Survey Instrument Coordinator.

This role focuses on supporting the survey and engineering team manage survey equipment across the project. Due to the site being a high-security military naval base, additional security checks will be required; a BPSS level of security clearance is necessary. These checks can take up to 8 weeks to process. Only candidates holding EU, NATO, 5 Eyes, or MISWG member passports and who have been UK residents for the last 5 years can be considered for this role.

Your team Location: Devonport Dockyard, Plymouth Contract: Permanent, 42.5 hours a week

In this role, you will be working in a live MOD facility. Your day-to-day tasks will include:

  • Manage survey deliveries of equipment from suppliers as per the survey procedures
  • Manage the surveying teams survey and measurement equipment
  • Provide a support function to assist engineers manage their survey equipment
  • Verify survey instruments are routinely checked and identify then quarantine any faulty instruments
  • Maintenance of survey instrument check and adjust registers
  • Maintain a file of calibration / conformity certificates for instrumentation
  • Manage data transfer registers
  • Maintain equipment register
  • Manage and distribute survey procedures that support the use of survey equipment
  • Technically support the engineers through the management of survey equipment and provide guidance on surveying standards
  • Follow safe working methodologies and procedures to support a survey team through a complex and controlled work environment
  • Support the survey team in surveying activities

Essential:

  • Experience managing survey equipment or similar equipment
  • Considerable years of experience in a similar position within the construction industry
  • Understanding of document control and reporting requirements
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • CSCS Card and relevant site safety qualifications
  • Site based role
  • Full Drivers License

Desirable:

  • Surveyor or engineer with a background in the construction industry
  • Degree, diploma, or relevant qualification in Civil Engineering, Surveying, or Construction
  • Familiarity with survey equipment; total stations, GPS/GNSS and laser scanners
  • Understanding of QC1 procedures and quality documentation in a civils context
