BAM Infrastructure is seeking an experienced and motivated Commercial Manager to join our team on the RIIOT2 Framework. In this role, you will take commercial responsibility for the construction of a new substation located in Finstown, Orkney Islands. This is a site-based role, with some travel required to our Kilsyth office in Glasgow. The project offers a significant opportunity to contribute to a key infrastructure development in a unique location.

Your team will be based in Finstown, located in the Orkney Islands, Scotland. A living-away allowance will be provided for working away from home, along with other package benefits.

As a Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Maintain effective communications with the Framework Director, Regional Commercial Manager, project management and other associated disciplines and enhance the profile of commercial services.
  • Be responsible for staff matters, which may include staff succession awareness, recruitment, development, attitude and behavioural issues, competency and retainment issues, and staff allocation.
  • Provide commercial contact with supply chain partners through pre-contract meetings, contract vetting and input to subcontract documents.
  • Ensure audits are carried out and feedback is provided to the business.
  • Provide commercial input to contacts with clients, and if necessary, client’s representatives.
  • Provide commercial advice to the site team in connection with all project issues and provide input to area commercial discussions/reviews.
  • Take part in discussions concerning project performance and provide commercial input to project strategy.
  • Ensure the production of monthly cost and value reports, quarterly forecasts, and company-tied costs. Obtain cash-flow information and present all reports.
  • Provide input to dispute identification and management.
  • Produce and negotiate insurance claims with the insurer's representatives.
  • Agree terms and engage legal and commercial consultants and monitor their accounts.
  • Maintain contact with supply chain partners through contract vetting and input to contract documentation.
  • Carry out sub-contract document vetting and input to sub-contract documentation.

What do you bring to the role?

  • Successful experience as a Commercial Manager working with multiple projects and with a minimum of 4 years in this role.
  • Educated to Degree level in a relevant Commercial, Construction or Project Management qualification (preferred but not essential).
  • Joint Venture experience.
  • Member of a Professional Institution or working towards application of the ICES, or similar.
  • Open collaborative approach and willing to help and assist those around you.
