BAM UK & Ireland's Infrastructure segment is seeking a proactive and motivated Commercial Assistant to join our dynamic team in Northern England. Playing a key role in supporting and enhancing commercial performance while delivering major civil engineering projects, you'll bring a keen eye, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work with autonomy in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Your team will be a hybrid role (min 3 days per week) based from our Mikasa House Office in Newcastle, with a requirement to visit projects and site offices across the North East.
As a Commercial Assistant, you will support the commercial team in maintaining effective cost control and reporting ensuring costs are allocated correctly and processes are followed in a consistent manner. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Assist with the monthly cost and value reconciliation supplying requested information such as material and plant accruals
- Input into our cost collation systems
- Processing subcontractor payments and clearing bought ledger invoices in line with agreed terms
- Producing cost-monitoring reports and analysing exception data
- Gathering and collating commercial data for internal and external reporting
- Managing allocation sheets, records, and the document filing system
- Participating in meetings and training sessions
- Using MS Office and other software for word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations
- Supporting wider commercial functions as required
- Ensuring compliance with company and project commercial procedures
What do you bring to the role?
- English and Maths GCSE or equivalent
- Previous experience in a similar role or construction industry is desirable but not essential.
- Strong organisational skills, diligence, and motivation to learn
- A keen interest in the construction industry and commercial functions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in IT, especially MS Office tools.
