KierBAM are a Joint Venture (JV) partnership between Kier and BAM Infrastructure. We are currently delivering the redevelopment project at a Royal Navy site located in Plymouth and we are seeking an experienced Senior Document Controller. The Senior Document Controller is responsible for managing and overseeing the documentation process to ensure all project and organizational documents are controlled, stored, and maintained efficiently and securely.
This role involves:
- Supervising document control staff.
- Maintaining compliance with industry standards.
- Supporting project teams with document-related requirements.
Due to the sensitive nature of the site, BPSS security clearance is required. Please note that this process can take up to 8 weeks.
Eligibility criteria:
- Candidates must hold a passport from a NATO or MISWG member country.
- Must have resided in the UK for the past 5 years.
Your day-to-day tasks will include:
- Overseeing the daily activities of the document control team to ensure accurate document management.
- Developing and implementing document control procedures and best practices.
- Managing the creation, revision, distribution, and archiving of project and corporate documents.
- Ensuring compliance with company policies, contractual obligations, and regulatory standards.
- Coordinating with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure document flow and traceability.
- Maintaining and administering document control systems, including electronic and physical filing systems.
- Training and mentoring junior document control staff.
- Conducting regular audits and reviews to ensure document integrity and compliance.
- Supporting project reporting requirements by preparing document status reports and metrics.
- Managing confidential and sensitive information with discretion.

What do you bring to the role?
- Degree or diploma in Business Administration, Information Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
- Proven experience (typically 5+ years) in document control, preferably in industries such as construction, oil & gas, engineering, or manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of document control standards and best practices (e.g., ISO 9001).
- Proficiency with document management software (e.g., Aconex, SharePoint, Documentum).
- Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving capabilities.
- Experience in training and supervising junior staff.
