BAM UK & Ireland is recruiting an Assistant Whole Life Carbon Assessor to join the BAM Design team. This role will support the delivery of Whole Life Carbon Assessments (WLCAs) aligned with RICS Whole Life Carbon v2 for school and education sector projects. You will work closely with BAM Design’s carbon assessor, design managers, engineers, and environmental specialists to deliver high quality WLCAs that inform decision making throughout the project lifecycle. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about sustainability in construction who is looking to grow their technical expertise within a contractor environment.
Making Possible Whole Life Carbon Assessment
- Assist in producing RICS WLC v2 compliant assessments across all life cycle stages (A1–C4 + D) and all RIBA stages.
- Support carbon modelling using platforms such as One Click LCA.
- Prepare baseline carbon models, design iterations, options appraisals, and final WLCA reports.
- Identify carbon hotspots and propose practical, achievable reduction strategies.
Data Collection & Material Quantification
- Gather, review, and validate data from design teams.
Reporting & Documentation
- Produce clear, visually engaging WLCA outputs for internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain well organised model versions, evidence logs, and supporting documentation.
- Work closely with design teams to review specifications and material changes.
- Participate in internal and external design workshops.
- Support BAM Design’s Whole Life Carbon Assessor in delivering project specific carbon workshops.
- Attend relevant industry networking events and share insights with the wider team.

What do you bring to the role?
- Experience working within a contractor environment or fast paced project settings.
- Familiarity with UK sustainability frameworks such as LETI, UKGBC, GLA WLC, DfE specifications, and the UK Net Zero Carbon Building Standard.
- Experience with Power BI or basic programming skills (e.g., Python) for data automation.
Qualifications
- Degree in sustainability, environmental science, engineering, architecture, construction management, or a related field.
- Embodied carbon or LCA related training (LETI, One Click LCA, UKGBC, CIBSE) is beneficial.
