Engineering Surveyor (Assurance) in Devon

Responsibilities include:

• Conducting pre-pour and post-pour checks.
• Performing as-built surveys through laser scanning and modelling of point clouds.
• Ensuring survey data is collected and recorded accurately, following project QA/QC standards.
• Operating survey equipment to the highest precision within a civils environment.
• Supporting engineers with setting out activities to ensure consistent approaches to surveying and engineering.
• Preparing survey reports, drawings, and data outputs for engineering and construction teams.
• Coordinating with site engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors to ensure alignment between construction programme and survey operations.
• Assisting with the implementation of quality control procedures, particularly in accordance with QC1 requirements; maintaining the highest standards of traceability, tolerances, and reporting.
• Managing and archiving survey files and records to support project compliance and audits, using the Projects Document Management system.
• Attending daily briefings and providing updates on survey progress and issues.
• Ensuring all surveying works are carried out in accordance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Supporting other surveying work packages as required.

What do you bring to the role?

Essential:

• Degree, diploma, or relevant qualification in Civil Engineering, Surveying, or Construction.
• Experience in surveying and construction industries.
• Considerable years of experience in a similar surveying position on a civil engineering project.
• Experience with surveying equipment; total stations, GPS/GNSS, and laser scanners.
• Survey data processing software; AutoCAD Civil 3D, Leica Infinity, Leica Cyclone, and Leica 3DR.
• Understanding of QC1 procedures and quality documentation in a civils context.
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• CSCS Card and relevant site safety qualifications.
• Member of the CinstCES (or technical member working towards full member), or another body.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Desirable:

• Experience working on major infrastructure or utilities projects (e.g., highways, rail, water, energy, nuclear).
• Knowledge of BIM or digital construction processes.
• First aid and additional safety training certifications.
