Building a sustainable tomorrow. KierBAM are a Joint Venture (JV) partnership between Kier and BAM Nuttall. We are currently delivering the redevelopment of an area within a Royal Navy dockyard located in Plymouth and we are seeking an experienced BIM Manager who will be a self-starter possessing the drive and knowledge to promote Digital Construction Technologies across the project and take full responsibility for leading the BIM team.

Location: Plymouth - 4 days a week as minimum

Contract: Permanent

Due to the site being within a high Security Naval base, additional security checks will need to be satisfied for this role, with BPSS level security clearance being a requirement, which can take up to 8 weeks to process. Only candidates holding EU, NATO, 5 Eyes, or MISWG member passports and have been a UK resident for the last 5 years can be considered for this role.

As BIM Manager, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Collaborating and working effectively within a multidiscipline and diverse team, possessing strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Driving the BIM narrative in new directions and exploring new ways to bring savings to the Project team.
  • Working alongside the Project Information Manager to produce, manage and control the project BIM brief, programme, and deliverables.
  • Leading and managing Model coordination and validation across the project team and sub-contractors.
  • Being proficient in a wide range of model authoring and checking software, including but not limited to Revit, AutoCAD, Solibri, ProjectWise, Synchro.
  • Having experience in site data capture systems, site delivery systems and access control (Datascope) would be an advantage.
  • Possessing extensive knowledge of managing task teams within a complex project.
  • Having prior experience within a MOD or secure environment is a benefit, understanding the function of SALs and NDAs to inform information handling, processing and transmitting.
  • Being experienced in implementing ISO19650 parts 1-5.
  • Demonstrating excellence in supporting the delivery of design, construction & commissioning of Major Projects and infrastructure.

What do you bring to the role?

  • Monitoring the completion of BIM Gateway forms throughout the project lifecycle management (PLM) to fulfil assurance procedures relating to early assessment of design team capability and internal resource considerations.
  • Assisting the digital and wider project teams to get the most out of the key design and authoring software used and smooth the way for delivery into federated models.
  • Working with multiple stakeholders to manage and mitigate design risk through the use of federation tools for clash reviews.
  • Seeking out and promoting the use of technologies that can improve business outcomes.
  • Taking a lean approach to identifying project solutions.
  • Authorising the information model for sharing.
  • Identifying, developing and providing training in aspects of digital construction and information management practices both to individual BIM team and project team members and to the wider project supply chain.
  • Managing and reviewing the work produced by the digital production team/members (Specialists and Modellers).
  • Supporting the design teams to develop accurate 3D designs in accordance and compliance with project/client standards.
  • Managing the development of the project information aligned with the contract requirements and BEP.
  • Understanding and identifying hardware and software requirements on the project and communicating your findings effectively with the Project Information Manager.
  • Ensuring that all parties are using the CDE in the agreed upon manner and as described in the BEP.
  • Capturing best practices, workflows, lessons learned and communicating this information within the organization and to team members.
  • Supporting the high safety and environmental standards expected on a project of this nature in accordance with company and project specific policies and reporting any inadequacies through the project channels.
