Building a sustainable tomorrow. BAM Infrastructure is seeking an experienced and motivated Commercial Manager to join our team on the RIIOT2 Framework. In this role, you will take commercial responsibility for the construction of a new substation located in Finstown, Orkney Islands. This is a site-based role, with some travel required to our Kilsyth office in Glasgow. The project offers a significant opportunity to contribute to a key infrastructure development in a unique location.
This role will be based in Finstown, located in the Orkney Islands, Scotland. A living-away allowance will be provided for working away from home, along with other package benefits.
What you will do / Responsibilities:
- Maintain effective communications with the Framework Director, Regional Commercial Manager, project management and other associated disciplines and enhance the profile of commercial services.
- Be responsible for staff matters, which may include staff succession awareness, recruitment, development, attitude and behavioural issues, competency and retainment issues, and staff allocation.
- Provide commercial contact with supply chain partners through pre-contract meetings, contract vetting and input to subcontract documents.
- Ensure audits are carried out and feedback is provided to the business.
- Provide commercial input to contacts with clients, and if necessary, client's representatives.
- Provide commercial advice to the site team in connection with all project issues and provide input to area commercial discussions/reviews.
- Take part in discussions concerning project performance and provide commercial input to project strategy.
- Ensure the production of monthly cost and value reports, quarterly forecasts, and company-tied costs. Obtain cash-flow information and present all reports.
- Provide input to dispute identification and management.
- Produce and negotiate insurance claims with the insurer's representatives.
- Agree terms and engage legal and commercial consultants and monitor their accounts.
- Maintain contact with supply chain partners through contract vetting and input to contract documentation.
- Carry out sub-contract document vetting and input to sub-contract documentation.
What do you bring to the role?
- Successful experience as a Commercial Manager working with multiple projects and with a minimum of 4 years in this role.
- Educated to Degree level in a relevant Commercial, Construction or Project Management qualification (preferred but not essential).
- Joint Venture experience.
- Member of a Professional Institution or working towards application of the ICES, or similar.
- Open collaborative approach and willing to help and assist those around you.
