BAM UK & Ireland are looking to recruit a motivated and detail-oriented Associate Estimator to join our team within the Energy Networks division. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing sector focused on delivering major infrastructure that underpins Scotland's transition to a more sustainable future.
In this role, you will play a key part in the preconstruction phase of large-scale civil engineering projects, supporting the development of robust and competitive cost estimates. Working closely with experienced estimators and wider project teams, you will contribute to the successful planning and delivery of critical infrastructure schemes. This position offers excellent exposure to complex projects, supply chain engagement, and technical specifications.
Your team will be based at our head office in Kilsyth, Scotland.
Making Possible
- Understanding and supporting the contribution to work winning and the Stage Gate governance process.
- Working responsibly with commercially sensitive pre-tender and tender information.
- Working collaboratively with the bid team and the wider Pre-Construction team, particularly supporting Senior Estimating staff and Bid Manager.
- Understanding the scope of a project, including review of 3D model and 2D digital drawing information and extracting information including specification details and quantities.
- Liaising closely with site teams to obtain accurate, up-to-date pricing for materials and subcontract packages.
- Contributing to preparing and issuing supply chain enquiries and amendments in accordance with the tender Procurement Plan.
- Contributing to and supporting preparing the estimate including calculations schedules, reports, and tender summaries, and preparing the priced bill using proprietary Estimating software as required.
- Contributing to and supporting identifying and evaluating risks and opportunities and developing a priced Risk and Opportunity Management Register.
- Contributing to and supporting presenting, and finalising the estimate, and preparing tender submission information.
- Contributing to preparing post-tender clarification responses.
- Contributing to preparing and presenting handover of Estimating information to project teams including feedback requests.
- Contributing to collecting, processing, and sharing cost benchmarking and feedback information.
- Maintaining awareness of latest construction materials, equipment, and techniques.
- Carrying out other relevant duties as required from time to time.
What do you bring to the role?
- Degree, HND in Civil Engineering or NVQ equivalent level.
- Suitable civil engineering site experience, with awareness of methods and typical production rates/outputs.
