BAM UK & Ireland is recruiting an Electrical Building Services Engineer to join the Construction segment, based in Bristol.
The role is based in Bristol with travel required to support projects across the Region.
The role will report directly to the Building Services Construction Manager.
- Making Possible
- Input at tender / cost planning stage including: evaluating M&E Consultants’ specifications and tender drawings, with a strong focus on electrical systems, buildability reviews, alternative design philosophy, logistics and planning.
- Management of design team to meet their obligations (organising / chairing design workshops), ensuring electrical and wider M&E coordination.
- Monitor the production of M&E design information, with particular focus on electrical services and interfaces with architects and structural engineers, ensuring compliance with Employers’ Requirements.
- Raise, manage and monitor ‘Technical Queries’ and Requests for Information (RFIs) as required.
- Input on tender lists for specialist M&E sub-contractors, with emphasis on electrical packages and major plant / equipment.
- Evaluate supply chain tender returns and quotations for specification compliance and best value, particularly across electrical and M&E works.
- Liaison with sub-contractors and suppliers to ensure order completeness, specification compliance and interface with mechanical, electrical and construction elements.
- Engineering of contractor responsibilities including electrical system design coordination, containment, power distribution, and integration with mechanical plant.
- Raise and agree Technical Submissions for Electrical Plant & Equipment, while maintaining coordination with wider M&E systems.
- Manage and monitor the delivery of electrical plant and equipment to meet programme (including factory witness testing), ensuring alignment with M&E installation sequences.
- Manage the production and delivery of M&E coordinated installation drawings, ensuring electrical services are fully integrated to programme and budget.
- Checking and sign‑off of coordinated installation drawings for design compliance, good engineering practice, operation, maintainability, CDM (H&S) and commissionability prior to issue.
- Management of CDP Specialists such as BMS, lighting controls, fire alarm and other M&E systems.
- Preparation and monitoring of Client and design changes across electrical and M&E scopes.
- Liaison with Construction team members (including site inspections), supporting delivery of electrical and integrated M&E services.

What do you bring to the role?
- Ideally will have an Engineering Degree or equivalent
- Experience working in the Construction industry within Building Services
- Strong knowledge of Electrical systems, equipment and design / coordination requirements, with a good understanding of wider M&E integration
- Good inter‑personal, communication and collaborative skills
- Must be able to manage workload with good time management
- Ability to work individually, as a team member, and to lead a team
- Good IT skills in Excel & Word, and ability to use other IT software (specific training will be given)
- Previous management experience would be beneficial
