We are currently looking to recruit Deputy Laboratory Managers at laboratories and projects throughout the UK.
Locations:
- HS2 South Laboratory, Aylesbury, Oxfordshire
- HS2 North Laboratory, Greatworth, Northamptonshire
- Devonport Docks, Plymouth
- Hinkley Point C, Near Bridgwater, Somerset
- Kilsyth Laboratory, Scotland
- Inverness Laboratory, Scotland
Responsibilities:
- Ensure that site sampling and laboratory testing is carried out to high standards of safety, quality and efficiency.
- Ensure that adequate and proper records are kept and filed correctly to satisfy the requirements of the laboratory management system and UKAS requirements.
- Ensure that sampling and testing is carried out to the appropriate British/European Standards.
- Ensure test equipment is checked, cleaned and maintained to an acceptable level.
- Communicating regularly and effectively with internal/external clients/site engineering staff on testing requirements.
- Review risk assessment-based activity plans.
- Check test results against project specification for compliance.
- Design scope for testing programmes based on clients' intended purpose and specification.
- Resolve technical anomalies.
- Develop cost effective technically sound alternatives.
- Plan work programmes with the JV team.
- Provide Monthly Cost and Income Summaries.
- Lead by example.
- Support, mentor and develop the team.
- Carry out staff PDR’s.
- Provide statistical analysis for materials.
- Carry out weekly safety tours of laboratory.
- Maintain personal CPD record and CV.
Qualifications:
- Maintaining high standards of work and compliance with UKAS accreditation requirements.
- Previous experience of working within a busy UKAS accredited laboratory.
- NVQ Level 4 or equivalent – an advantage.
- Managers CSCS card.
- Driving Licence.
- SMSTS.
- Knowledge and understanding of ISO 17025 and 9001.
