BAM UK & Ireland is seeking an experienced and motivated Commercial Assistant to join our dynamic team, delivering the construction of a new substation in Aberdeenshire that will play a vital role in supporting Scotland's transition to net zero.

This role will be based on site near New Deer, Aberdeenshire. BAM operates a flexible working policy.

As a Commercial Assistant, you will support the commercial team in maintaining effective cost control and reporting. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Assist with the monthly cost and value reconciliation supplying requested information such as material and plant accruals
  • Input into our cost collation systems
  • Processing subcontractor payments and clearing bought ledger invoices in line with agreed terms
  • Producing cost-monitoring reports and analysing exception data
  • Gathering and collating commercial data for internal and external reporting
  • Managing allocation sheets, records, and the document filing system
  • Participating in meetings and training sessions
  • Using MS Office and other software for word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations
  • Supporting wider commercial functions as required
  • Ensuring compliance with company and project commercial procedures

What do you bring to the role?

  • English and Mathematics National Qualifications or equivalent
  • Previous experience in a similar role or construction industry is desirable but not essential
  • Strong organisational skills, diligence, and motivation to learn
  • A keen interest in the construction industry and commercial functions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in IT, especially MS Office tools
