BAM Nuttall are looking to recruit an Assistant Planning Engineer who can strengthen the existing team, delivering large civil engineering projects across Scotland. The role is open to Civil Engineers who are keen to move into a planning role where training is provided, or an Assistant Planner looking for further development. The projects are within the energy infrastructure sector, building new substations and HVDC converter stations to support Scotland's transition to net Zero. You will be based out of the regional offices in Kilsyth (Glasgow) or Inverness, and/or local project offices.

Your mission
- Supporting the Planning Engineer in developing and maintaining detailed programmes in P6
- Supporting management of sub-contractor programmes with our own
- Assimilate and interpret information from tender and project documentation
- Understand civil construction techniques and developing them into a working programme with support of the Planning Engineer
- Coordinate with estimators and commercial teams on programme aspects
- Compile concise narratives, phasing, reports and supporting documents for input into quality submissions for tenders and projects
- Utilise a number of planning techniques and tools to communicate the programme effectively
- Contribute, support and communicate programme information, risk and commercial issues to operational teams in a variety of formats
- Contribute to collaborative planning workshops with clients, operational teams and subcontractors (depending on Project requirements)
- Update and monitor project progress, compile reports against project and contract requirements
- Assist in introducing and analyse change in programmes and support the commercial teams
- Evaluate supply chain and subcontract programmes
- Comply with business processes and systems
- Maintain awareness of latest construction techniques
Who are we looking for?
- Must have at least 2 years, UK based, civil engineering construction experience.
- A qualification in Civil Engineering/Construction to HND level or equivalent is preferred but not essential
- Competent in the use of various planning software is preferable, training is available
- The ability to communicate effectively with all parties
- A clear ability for logical thinking and working in an ordered fashion
- The ability to work to often challenging timescales
- Understanding of planning techniques
- Tender experience would be an advantage
- Good commercial and contractual awareness
