BAM UK & Ireland's Infrastructure segment is seeking a forward-thinking and experienced Planner to join our Social Infrastructure, Nuclear & Defence team. In this role, you will play a key part in the design, construction, and integration of groundbreaking nuclear infrastructure. This is a client-focused position, with a strong emphasis on planning for site establishment and enabling works for a significant nuclear site. We are looking for an individual with excellent communication and collaboration skills to ensure seamless coordination across project teams and stakeholders.

Your team will operate on a hybrid basis, with 34 days working from home and weekly attendance at the Derby and Manchester project offices.

Contract: Permanent, 42.5 hours a week

Making Possible

As a Planner, you'll play a key role in driving programme excellence across tender and delivery phases as well as:

  • Develop detailed, resource-loaded programmes from first principles using P6
  • Assess and integrate subcontractor and supplier schedules
  • Interpret tender/project documentation and translate into safe, buildable plans
  • Collaborate with estimators, commercial, and delivery teams to align programme strategy
  • Produce clear narratives, phasing plans, and reports for bids and live projects
  • Own and drive programme delivery, using planning tools to communicate effectively
  • Lead planning workshops with clients, teams, and subcontractors
  • Support planners under your lead in development and career reviews
  • Monitor progress, manage change, and report against contract milestones
  • Support QSRA processes and ensure compliance with internal systems

What do you bring to the role?

Reporting to the Project Director, we're seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual ready to grow their career in construction planning. You'll bring a solid foundation and a willingness to learn and a desire to grow in planning and project delivery with the following qualifications and skills:

  • A qualification in Civil Engineering (HND or degree level).
  • Experience up to the sub-agent level across a range of civil engineering/building projects.
  • A working understanding of commercial and contractual matters, particularly under NEC contracts.
  • Awareness of digital construction tools and workflows.
  • A logical, methodical approach to planning and problem-solving.
  • Familiarity with programming techniques and typical production rates.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
  • Competence in using Primavera P6 and Microsoft Office; Synchro experience is a plus.
  • The ability to manage time effectively and meet challenging deadlines.
  • Nuclear sector experience will be an advantage.
