BAM UK & Ireland is recruiting an Occupational Health and Safety Advisor to join the Team. This role will primarily support construction operations in our Scotland region and be based out of our Stepps/Kilsyth offices. The position will involve a mixture of working from home, on site and working across our Scotland construction business. Travel will be necessary around the north of England.
Making Possible
- Keep up to date with recommended codes of practice, health and safety literature and changes in legislation.
- Participate in sharing best practice.
- Keep H&S Manager informed regarding compliance with the support procedures as well as making them aware of the day-to-day monitoring of H&S within the Business Units.
- Perform the duties of H&S Adviser in accordance with the relevant statute.
- Advise all levels of management on:
- Preventing injury to personnel and damage to plant and equipment.
- Further improvement in existing safe working methods.
- Legal requirements affecting safety, health, welfare.
- Provision and use of protective clothing and equipment.
- Potential hazards arising from new contracts before work starts on site including safety organisation arrangements and fire precautions.
Your team
The position will involve a mixture of working from home, on site and working across our Scotland Construction business. Travel will be necessary around Scotland and occasionally to locations in England and may involve overnight stays.

What do you bring to the role?
- Qualifications:
- A degree is preferable but not essential.
- NEBOSH Construction Certificate (minimum)
- Chartered Member of IOSH or working towards it
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint plus other digital technologies
- You will be self-motivated and enthusiastic.
- Ability to work with little direct supervision.
- Exemplary written reporting skills.
- Time management and organisation skills to a high level.
- Ability to present to large and small groups including delivery of formal training courses.
- You will be able to research subjects and report on your findings.
- Clean UK driving license and willingness to travel to other UK locations.
