KierBAM are a Joint Venture (JV) partnership between Kier and BAM UK & Ireland. BAM UK & Ireland's infrastructure segment is currently delivering the redevelopment project at a Royal Navy site located in Plymouth and we are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor.
Due to the site being a high-security military naval base, additional security checks will be required – a BPSS level of security clearance is necessary. These checks can take up to 8 weeks to process. Only candidates holding EU, NATO, 5 Eyes, or MISWG member passports and who have been UK residents for the last 5 years can be considered for this role.
Your team:
- Location: Devonport Dockyard, Plymouth
- Contract: Permanent, 42.5 hours a week
In this role, you will be working in a live MOD facility. Your day to day tasks will include:
- Provide commercial input including financial and contractual performance forecasts to the management team.
- Help ensure that business targets and KPI’s are met/exceeded.
- Ensure cash flow is maximised including ensuring payments are made and received on time.
- Preparation and review of monthly cost reports for area, together with review of results and consideration of trends with other contract team members.
- Forecasting and monitoring spend against approved Client budgets.
- Physical measurement of works and agreement of same with client and subcontractors.
- Agreement of certification and payment of subcontractor accounts - monitoring of such accounts against forecasts.
- Implementation and compliance with the contract change control procedure and monitoring thereof including communications to client as appropriate.
- Managing sub-contractors including sending out enquiries, collating prices, comparing with tender, negotiation, order placement, agreement of account and payment.
- To assess, review and mitigate commercial and contractual risks and implement Kier Group's policies for risk management.
- Client facing role so good communication skills are essential.
- From time to time, you may be required by the Company to perform other tasks, which are not included in the above description, but are within your capabilities and, where necessary, training, and full support will be given.
What do you bring to the role?
Essential:
- Professionally qualified operator and/or Graduate Qualifications - Quantity Surveyor, Commercial Related (HNC, BSc, MSc).
- CSCS – White PQP/AQP.
- Fully converse and experience of NEC Contracts.
- Experience with the use of CEMAR desired but not essential.
- Experience working with Coins / Causeway accounting systems.
- Team player and working with a highly skilled diverse team.
- Holder of a Full UK Drivers Licence.
- Educated to Degree level, or equivalent experience.
- Experience within a similar role.
- Confident IT skills, proficient in the use of MS Office in particular Excel.
- Excellent Communication skills both written and verbally.
- Must be an excellent organiser with proven time management skills.
Desirable:
- Professional Accreditation desired eg. RICS, ICE etc.
