As a Section Engineer, you will be responsible for the following:
- Manage the preparation of as-built drawings.
- Establish effective systems to record work completed and update the Project Quality Plan accordingly.
- Manage systems to enable progress of work to be reviewed against time, quality, dimensions and quantity.
- Assist in recording and testing of workmanship and materials, i.e., drainage, concrete, piling, brickwork, etc.
- Provide engineering support to ensure technical problems are overcome and queries answered.
- Set out works constructed within allowable tolerances.
- Regularly check setting‑out points and benchmarks and ensure all setting‑out instruments and measuring equipment are delivered to site with calibration certificates and recorded accordingly.
- Ensure workforce understands setting‑out information has been identified as suitable for the type of work being carried out.
- Prepare sketches for distribution on site, ensuring clear communication channels for effective understanding.
- Provide and maintain setting‑out and dimensional control, to ensure accurate construction of the work.
- Record instructions.
- Maintain drawing register.
Qualifications
- Degree qualification in Civil Engineering or equivalent: BSc, BA, BEng, MEng, Eng, Tech, MICE, TIStructE, LCIBSE, LCIBSEEng Tech, Completion of Higher Apprenticeship.
- SSSTS CSCS White PQP/AQP.
- May be working towards Chartership/Incorporation with IStructE, ICE or other appropriate professional body.
- Experience in a similar role.
Security Requirements
Due to the site being a high‑security military naval base, additional security checks will be required. A BPSS level of security clearance is necessary. These checks can take up to 8 weeks to process. Only candidates holding EU, NATO, Five Eyes, or MISWG member passports and who have been a UK residence for the last 5 years can be considered for this role.
