Red One Ltd is seeking an experienced and motivated Fire Station Manager to manage our full-time Fire and Rescue Service at Hinkley Point C – Europe’s largest construction site.
The role:
- As Fire Station Manager, you’ll oversee day-to-day operations of the on-site Fire and Rescue Service, leading a team of approximately 50 staff across four watches.
- This is a key leadership role, balancing strategic oversight with operational readiness and team development.
- You’ll foster a proactive health and safety culture, ensure compliance with relevant policies, and build strong stakeholder relationships across the site.
Please note: Due to the nature of the site and transport requirements, applicants must live within a commutable distance of Bridgwater (TA5) to access the designated site transport system.
Duties Will Include:
- Leading on-site Fire and Rescue Service operations, maintaining high operational readiness.
- Promoting site-wide fire safety, delivering risk mitigation and ensuring compliance with Red One policies.
- Supporting staff development, welfare and performance.
- Overseeing incident command and emergency response.
- Conducting site inspections, audits, debriefs and investigations.
- Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with stakeholders.
- Maintaining accurate records on training, qualifications, attendance and risk assessments.
What we’re looking for:
- This is a dynamic, site-based role combining strategic leadership with hands-on operational oversight.
- You’ll manage performance, training and safety, ensuring the fire station remains resourced, compliant and ready to respond.
- We are open to both operational and non-operational applicants. If you do not meet the operational fitness or incident command requirements, you may still be considered for a leadership-focused, non-operational version of the role.
Eligibility Requirements:
- You must have the right to work in the UK – we are unable to offer sponsorship.
- You must be eligible for Security Clearance (SC) due to the high-security nature of the site.
- You must live within a commutable distance of Bridgwater (TA5) to access site transport (bus).
Essential Requirements:
- Operational knowledge and experience, ideally at Station Commander level.
- Ability to lead teams and manage performance effectively.
- Strong communication and instructional skills.
- Working knowledge of fire safety.
- Good computing and administrative skills.
- A good level of fitness.
Desirable Qualifications And Experience:
- Competent Station Manager with Level 2 Incident Command.
- Assessor and/or teaching qualification.
- Experience managing a full-time fire station.
- Institute of Fire Engineers Level 3 Diploma.
- Industrial, aviation or local authority fire and rescue services experience.
- High Volume Pump operations.
- First Aid at Work (or equivalent qualification).
- City & Guilds High Risk Confined Space and Emergency Rescue and Recovery (or Rescue 3 equivalent).
- Rope rescue qualification: IRATA L1-3, SPRAT L1-3 or Rescue 3 Rope Rescue Operator or equivalent.
