BAM FM is seeking to recruit a Deputy Facilities Manager to support the Facilities Manager at our Bristol Schools. The role involves ensuring services are delivered in accordance with the Service Agreement, managing technical works, project activities, and maintenance of building services, fabrication, and site equipment.

This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday.

Your responsibilities

  • Manage minor building works on site, ensuring compliance with Building Regulations.
  • Directly manage Premises Managers and oversee daily operations.
  • Coordinate with the Authority through regular communication and meetings.
  • Implement and maintain Quality Management, Environmental, Health and Safety systems, liaising with the Authority’s representatives.
  • Oversee Hard Services including mechanical and electrical maintenance, equipment testing, building fabric, asset maintenance, utilities, and ICT infrastructure.
  • Assist with Soft Services management as needed.
  • Ensure Health and Safety compliance, including fire regulations.
  • Conduct contract audits to ensure service quality and best practices.
  • Review and cost change notices.
  • Maintain up-to-date planned preventive maintenance and lifecycle programmes.
  • Develop relationships with customer departments and maintain contract administration files.
  • Manage BAM FM employees on and off-site, including appraisals, training, and discipline.
  • Ensure statutory compliance and adherence to policies and procedures.

Ideal candidate

  • Proven management experience.
  • Background in Hard FM services.
  • Experience in public sector client relationships.
  • Extensive operational management knowledge of building maintenance and M&E services, with relevant qualifications or professional memberships.
  • Strong interpersonal, customer service, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects proactively.
  • Knowledge of Quality Management Systems and new technologies such as building management systems and energy management.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and IT literacy.
  • Understanding of CDM regulations in FM.
  • Financial and contract management skills.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable qualifications:

  • ILM Level 3 First Line Management or equivalent.
  • IOSH Managing Safety certification.
  • Knowledge of CDM regulations in Facilities Management.
