A BAM apprenticeship is a full time earn and learn position, where you will be involved in delivering multi million-pound projects, leaving a lasting legacy and positive change in our communities. Our Technical Apprenticeship is a five year programme and is designed to help you grow step by step:

  • Years 1–2: Level 4 Higher Apprenticeship - You’ll work towards a Higher Apprenticeship in Construction Management and complete a Higher National Certificate (HNC). During this time, you’ll also start working towards professional recognition with the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB).
  • Years 3–5: Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship - After successfully completing Level 4, you will have the opportunity to progress to a Degree Apprenticeship, gaining a full honours degree and continuing your journey towards chartered membership of the CIOB.

Our Construction Management apprenticeship is delivered by Leeds College of Building on a block release basis with accommodation provided.

Our construction works cover a range of different sectors and apprentices are based within a variety of different teams working on a wide range of projects, so the type of roles that we have are really varied and interesting. From day one on site you will be with an experienced team of professionals, supporting you to learn and grow your career as a BAM apprentice. Construction managers are the construction professionals who make up our site management team. Our construction management apprentices work predominantly on site, supporting the delivery of projects. Your day to day will include:

  • Technical Development - Gain hands-on experience and put your learning into practise.
  • Problem Solving - Learn how to overcome challenges on live projects.
  • Drive quality - through effective planning and right first-time delivery.
  • On-Site Experience - Be part of real construction projects and work closely with our skilled workforce.
  • Apply your learning - and knowledge in real world scenarios.
  • Liaise with clients - and manage subcontractors.
  • Manage quality.
  • Manage the supply of materials and labour.
  • Help to ensure that projects are delivered safely and on time.

Safety and Sustainability - Help to ensure that work is carried out safely in line with the company Health and Safety. Maintaining high personal standards in health and safety. Maintaining high standards in environmental awareness and behaviour. Monitoring and recording delivery against the agreed programme and construction methods. Ensuring that works are accurate and set out before work commences.

What you’ll need

  • Academic Requirements - GCSE grade 5 (B) or above in Maths, GCSE grade 4 (C) or above in English Language, 3 additional GCSE’s grade 4 and above, plus 2 x STEM A-Levels or finance, economics, business, or relevant Level 3 Qualifications (e.g Civil Engineering, Construction in the Built Environment - Quantity Surveying), T Level Design, Planning & Surveying for Construction.

Additional Requirements - This is a regional position, however candidates must be willing to travel to site and work away from home when necessary. As some of our projects are in remote areas, we also require all applicants to hold a full UK driving license.
