Balyasny Asset Management is seeking a highly skilled Senior Implementation Engineer to drive our Portfolio Manager (PM) and Analyst Technology Onboarding function. Reporting to the Onboarding Lead, you will:
- Execute the end-to-end technical onboarding for new investment teams, serving as the primary technical contact for the team as a handsâon engineer.
- Act as the technical Subject Matter Expert (SME), translating complex PM investment strategy requirements into concrete technical configurations on the BAM Technology Platform.
- Deeply integrate with business lines, ensuring that research, data, and trading implementations are optimized for specific asset classes and strategies.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- BUSINESS ANALYSIS & PM ENABLEMENT
- Requirements Engineering: Partner directly with PMs and Analysts to dissect their investment process; translate general trading requirements into precise technical specifications (e.g., compute requirements, library dependencies, data latency needs).
- Training & Adoption: Deliver highâtouch, technical training to quantitative and discretionary users; create code samples (Jupyter notebooks), documentation, and runbooks to drive platform adoption.
- Handsâon Engineering: Provision and configure complex research, data, and trading environments using Python, SQL, AWS, Airflow, and GitHub.
- Feedback Loop: Act as the "voice of the customer" back to core engineering teams, identifying platform gaps and testing new features before they reach the investment teams.
- Onboarding Execution: Manage the technical delivery for assigned investment teams from intake to goâlive, ensuring all technical milestones are met on schedule.
- CrossâFunctional Orchestration: Coordinate technically complex requests across specialized engineering pods (e.g., High Performance Computing, Market Data, Security) and track them to closure.
- Operational Rigor: Maintain accurate status updates and technical documentation for all assigned projects, escalating blockers to leadership proactively.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years in hedgeâfund, propâtrading, fintech, or quantitative developer roles.
- Strong technical command of the core technology stack driving a modern hedge fund: including proficiency in Python and SQL, Cloud/Infrastructure (AWS, Linux, Compute Farms), and SDLC processes (CI/CD, Docker/Kubernetes).
- Experience with critical industry applications (e.g., Airflow/Orchestration, Research Platforms, PMS/Risk systems) is highly preferred.
- Deep Business Domain Knowledge: Nuanced understanding of Front Office investment workflows. Must be conversant in financial instruments (Equities, Macro, Fixed Income, and/or Commodities) and the specific data/analytics needs associated with them.
- Exceptional Communication: Ability to explain complex technical concepts to nonâtechnical stakeholders and discuss sophisticated trading strategies with engineers.
- Resourceful Owner Mindset: Thrives in fastâmoving, ambiguityârich environments with a focus on solving problems independently.
