The Macro and Fixed Income team is central to BAM's continued leadership in global markets. As macroeconomic and Fixed Income investing becomes increasingly data-driven, the ability to harness advanced analytics and AI is critical to the team's success. Our group is at the forefront of this evolution, delivering innovative AI and data solutions that empower portfolio managers, analysts, and researchers to make more informed decisions in rates, FX, credit, and related markets.
Our Macro and Fixed Income organization is building an elite AI enablement team to accelerate adoption of BAM's in-house generative AI and data science products across Macro and Fixed Income investment strategies. We are seeking a highly skilled AI Engineer to join our Macro and Fixed Income team, focused on building AI-driven solutions for investment, research, and risk management. In this role, you will work on projects that directly impact how Macro and Fixed Income professionals leverage data and AI to enhance their workflows. You will design robust AI systems and conduct advanced data analysis, with an emphasis on delivering scalable, high-performance applications tailored to the needs of Macro and Fixed Income investment teams.
The ideal candidate will have experience delivering production-grade AI solutions, ideally those involving large-scale financial data integration and analysis. Experience in macroeconomic and Fixed Income domains is highly valued, including familiarity with market data, economic indicators, and Fixed Income instruments. A strong foundation in computer science is essential. Exceptional problem-solving skills, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to communicate with both technical and investment audiences are key to success in this role.
Key Responsibilities- Drive Adoption: Embed with Macro and Fixed Income trading desks to maximize the value derived from BAM's in-house generative AI and data science tools across rates, credit, FX, and Macro strategies.
- Partner Closely: Translate Macro PM and analyst requirements into concrete technical solutions that address specific challenges in global markets and Fixed Income investing.
- Train & Enable: Deliver demos, host office hours, and create cheat-sheets to simplify every Macro and Fixed Income professional's journey with our AI solutions.
- Streamline Processes: Continuously evaluate the workflows of our Macro and Fixed Income investment teams and use LLMs and data science techniques to improve efficiency in market analysis, economic research, and investment decision making.
- Relay Feedback: Capture on-desk insights from Macro and Fixed Income teams and relay them to the appropriate Data Science and AI teams to sharpen and extend existing products.
- Maintain Edge: Track emerging LLM techniques and machine learning methods relevant to Macro and Fixed Income markets, pilot promising ideas, and feed proven wins back into the platform.
Education: Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Finance, or equivalent work experience. Advanced degrees are preferred. Academic training in computer science, statistics and data science techniques (including machine learning methods) is required. Preference for candidates with academic training in generative AI techniques and macroeconomic or Fixed Income analysis.
Minimum Qualifications: 3+ years of professional software development experience, ideally with LLM-based and data science solutions. Strong proficiency in Python and ML packages. Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes). Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred). Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code. Direct experience working with macroeconomic or Fixed Income data, or supporting Macro/Fixed Income investment teams.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience integrating LLMs and AI models into production applications. Familiarity with OpenAI APIs, Anthropic Claude, or similar AI services. Experience with vector databases and RAG systems. Experience with Knowledge Graphs and Graph Databases (e.g., Neo4j). Knowledge of macroeconomic indicators, Fixed Income instruments (rates, credit, FX), and investment workflows. Understanding of AI agent architectures and multi-agent systems.
