Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a Skilled Operative to join our Balvac team working on projects across the UK. For over 85 years, our Balfour Beatty Balvac business has been delivering innovative structural repair, strengthening, protection and maintenance solutions to sustainably extend the life of our nation's infrastructure. Our clients include highways and major local authorities across the UK, as well as sectors such as rail, marine, coastal, power, industrial and commercial.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Ensure the works are carried out in the most efficient and safe manner.
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude and behaviour towards safety and others.
  • Report all near misses, hazards or observations via the hotline and to the Supervisor.
  • Follow company and manufacturer procedures to ensure standards are met.
  • Notify the Supervisor or Chargehand of any matters that affect the progress of works (including breakdowns & damages).
  • Ensure maintenance and inspection checks are carried out, reports are correctly completed on time and submitted.
  • Ensure relevant task briefings are conducted before tasks are undertaken.
  • Make sure the quality and quantity of work produced are at required levels.

Who We're Looking For

  • Good communication skills (to all levels, including Supervisors).
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Proactively challenge and be challenged where appropriate.
  • Knowledge of using and clear understanding of work package plans, method statements, procedures, risk assessments and site‑specific rules (including lift plans).
  • HSE CSCS card.
  • Multi‑skilled (e.g., Traffic Marshall, Manual Handling).
  • Qualified Industrial/Counterbalance and Telehandler operative.
