We are looking for a Contracts Engineer (Sub Agent) to join our Balvac team at Balfour Beatty, initially supporting projects based in Preston, with opportunities to work across the wider UK.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the safe and efficient delivery of multiple Balvac schemes, coordinating internal teams and specialist subcontractors to achieve programme, quality and cost outcomes.
  • Report to Balvac Contracts/Project Managers and the Operations Manager.
  • Manage site teams and subcontractors to ensure works are delivered safely, on time and to specification.
  • Ensure construction activities are carried out in accordance with contract drawings, specifications and project management plans, including overseeing site setting out and dimensional control.
  • Develop, review and implement method statements and project programmes, while monitoring progress, productivity and performance against targets.
  • Produce and maintain key project documentation, including quality plans, inspection and test plans, construction phase plans, as-built records and O&M manuals.
  • Promote and maintain high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance, including the preparation of risk assessments and driving a strong behavioural safety culture.
  • Proactively identify and resolve engineering and delivery challenges while building strong working relationships with clients, colleagues and supply chain partners.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • A degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Experience delivering infrastructure or structural repair projects, ideally on concrete structures.
  • Strong technical understanding of structural or specialist repair works.
  • Experience managing multiple teams and coordinating subcontractors.
  • Good commercial awareness, including cost and programme management.
  • Strong understanding of health, safety and environmental practices, with a commitment to maintaining high standards on site.
  • Ability to solve problems, make decisions and adapt to changing project requirements.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders.
  • Results driven, takes pride in delivering high standards, and works collaboratively to achieve project success.
