This is a unique opportunity to join a small, family‑run organisation at the beginning of its journey to become an outstanding children’s home provider. As the Registered Manager, you will lead the opening and registration of a brand‑new children’s home, shaping its culture and ethos from the ground up. You’ll have the autonomy to implement your vision, creating a safe, nurturing, and aspirational environment for children and young people.
Your Role as Registered Manager – Children’s Residential Home
- Lead the registration process with Ofsted, including developing the Statement of Purpose and all required policies and procedures
- Recruit, develop, and inspire a skilled staff team capable of delivering high‑quality, therapeutic care
- Provide supervision, appraisal, and training opportunities to foster a reflective and ambitious workforce
- Engage with local authorities to promote the home and maintain optimum occupancy levels
- Ensure care plans are outcome‑focused, child‑centred, and promote emotional, educational, and social development
- Safeguard and promote the welfare of all children and young people, ensuring their voices shape the service
- Ensure compliance with Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards
- Lead on all regulatory inspections (Ofsted, Regulation 44/45) and drive continuous improvement
- Manage budgets and resources effectively, ensuring best value and financial accountability
- Embed a nurturing, inclusive, and aspirational ethos that empowers staff and children
Your Experience as Registered Manager – Children’s Residential Home
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or willingness to complete within 18 months)
- Minimum 2 years in a supervisory/management role within a children’s residential setting
- Strong track record in safeguarding, regulatory compliance, and staff development
- In-depth understanding of Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, Quality Standards, and Ofsted inspection framework
- Ability to inspire, lead, and motivate staff
- Financial and resource management skills
- Passionate about making a difference in children’s lives and committed to a child‑centred, restorative approach
