6‑month contract | Immediate start available £450 per day Inside IR35 (via umbrella) Hybrid working (3 days on site)

Stepping into the role, you will take the lead of a high‑impact IRO service, reporting into senior leadership and influencing outcomes for children at a critical time. You will oversee a team of Independent Reviewing Officers, driving standards, embedding restorative practice, and ensuring every child’s voice is central to decision‑making. This is your opportunity to shape practice, challenge effectively, and leave a lasting impact in a well‑structured service.

You will be trusted to set the tone for excellence, ensuring statutory responsibilities are not only met but delivered to the highest standard.

  • Lead and inspire a team of IROs, ensuring strong oversight of care planning and reviews
  • Champion restorative practice with a clear focus on children’s voice and participation
  • Deliver the statutory IRO function, providing robust challenge and support to teams
  • Drive quality assurance, performance and standards across Children in Care services
  • Build positive relationships with families, supporting safe and meaningful connections

Your experience:

  • Proven Service Manager-level leadership within Children’s Services
  • Strong background as an IRO or managing IRO teams
  • Demonstrable experience of quality assurance and performance management
  • Qualified Social Worker with extensive Local Authority experience
  • Ability to influence through challenge, collaboration and relationship-building
