Reporting directly to theDirector of Place , this role sits at the heart of a dynamic directorate coveringPlanning Development Management, Strategic Planning, Economic Growth, and Climate & Sustainability .
You’ll work closely with corporate managers and teams across these departments to deliver a range of time-limited, high-impact projects.
About the Place Project Manager Role:

  • Lead and manage diverse projects across the Place Directorate
  • Develop and monitor project plans, timelines, milestones, and deliverables
  • Manage risk and quality assurance processes across services
  • Procure and oversee consultants delivering technical projects
  • Engage with stakeholders, Councillors, and committees on key initiatives
  • Recommend updates to policies, strategies, and procedures
  • Deliver small-scale capital projects (e.g., public realm installations, energy generation)

Your previous experience as a Place Project Manager:

  • Strong project management experience, ideally within a local authority or related field
  • Experience across Planning Development Management, Strategic Planning, Economic Growth, and Climate & Sustainability.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Proven ability to manage consultants and deliver strategic outcomes
  • Commercial awareness and understanding of governance and policy
  • Experience in process improvement and cross-departmental collaboration

A technical or planning qualification is not essential, but experience in a related field would be beneficial.
