As a Consultant in Public Health, you will report into a senior leadership structure and play a pivotal role in driving service transformation across a complex and evolving landscape - with a specific focus on Children's and Maternity services. You’ll lead multi-disciplinary teams, manage significant budgets, and work at system level with partners to improve outcomes, reduce inequalities, and enhance services for children, young people, and families.

Your Role as Consultant in Public Health:

  • Lead strategic public health programmes across health improvement, protection, and inclusion, with a particular emphasis on Children's and Maternity services
  • Drive innovation and service transformation in a challenging financial and political environment
  • Provide expert advice and briefings to senior stakeholders, councillors, and system partners
  • Oversee performance, governance, and commissioning to deliver measurable outcomes
  • Champion collaboration across systems, including ICBs, voluntary sector and partners - supporting integrated pathways for children and maternity care

Your previous experience as a Consultant in Public Health:

  • Proven senior leadership experience within complex public sector organisations
  • Strong track record of delivering change and improving population outcomes, ideally within children’s, early years, or maternity services
  • Expertise in data, intelligence, and evidence‑based decision making
  • Demonstrated ability to influence at board and political level with confidence
  • Registered or eligible Public Health Specialist (GMC/GDC/UKPHR)
