Are you ready to take ownership of some of the largest and most complex planning applications in the pipeline? As a Major Projects Officer, you will step into a pivotal role where your expertise directly shapes high-profile developments. Reporting into an experienced Planning Manager, you will be trusted to lead major schemes end-to-end, influence key stakeholders, and drive high-quality outcomes within a fast-paced Planning & Development environment. This opportunity offers the autonomy and exposure that will elevate your career instantly.

Your Role as Major Projects Officer:

  • Lead on complex major planning applications from validation through to decision
  • Drive PPA delivery and manage key project timelines and stakeholder expectations
  • Produce high-quality reports and present recommendations to Planning Committee
  • Act as lead officer in appeals, hearings and inquiries when required
  • Mentor junior planners and support wider service improvement initiatives

Your previous experience as Major Projects Officer:

  • Strong background managing major planning applications within a Local Authority
  • Proven expertise in planning legislation and development management
  • Experience with pre-apps, committee reporting and appeals
  • Ability to influence stakeholders across developers, members and the public
  • RTPI membership (or working towards) with excellent written and verbal communication
