A London local authority is seeking an experienced and strategic interim Change Manager to support a major organisationâwide transformation programme. This senior role sits at the heart of cultural change, internal communications and staff engagement, helping to drive forward the council's One Lambeth Change Transformation Programme and shaping how the organisation evolves.
About the Interim Change Manager role
- Provide strategic leadership and expert advice on transformation, culture change, internal communications and engagement activity across the organisation.
- Devise and deliver a highâimpact communications strategy to support organisational transformation, culture change initiatives and the council's longâterm vision.
- Work closely with the Chief Executive, Corporate Directors, HR/OD and senior leaders to embed new ways of working, staff values and a cohesive transformation narrative.
- Lead communication and engagement plans for multiple workstreams within the One Lambeth Change Transformation Programme.
- Oversee internal campaigns, staff events, Q&A, conferences and largeâscale employee engagement initiatives.
- Monitor emerging issues and shape timely, effective messaging to ensure the organisation is wellâpositioned to manage challenges.
- Collaborate with internal communications, policy, strategy and external comms teams to deliver coordinated, compelling content.
- Lead communication activity related to Equity & Justice programmes, ensuring alignment with EDI priorities and staff networks.
- Drive improvements in digital internal communications channels, working with ICT and wider employee experience stakeholders.
- Provide seniorâlevel communications guidance to the CEO, Strategic Directors, councillors and Cabinet members on both proactive and reactive issues.
- Support consistent messaging across directorates, identifying opportunities to showcase transformation success stories and staff impact.
Your experience as interim Change Manager
- Proven experience leading internal communications, engagement, change or transformation in a large, complex organisation (ideally public sector or local government).
- Strong track record of shaping and delivering campaigns, communications strategies and transformationâfocused messaging across multiple stakeholder groups.
- Experience working directly with senior leadership and influencing decisionâmakers at the highest level.
- Understanding of the local government landscape and the context in which councils operate.
- Experience delivering campaigns or programmes relating to strategy, policy, equalities, research, analysis or organisational development.
- Ability to work across multiâagency partnerships and large transformation programmes, aligning content and messaging across teams.
- Excellent communication and relationshipâbuilding skills, with the ability to distil complex change into clear, accessible and engaging messaging.
- Politically astute, collaborative and confident in managing sensitive internal communications and emerging issues.
