Are you the kind of surveyor who looks at a building and instantly sees what it could become? This is a rare opportunity to step into a highly specialised Development & Acquisition Surveyor contract where your technical judgement will directly influence major property acquisition and development decisions. You will report into a senior property lead, operating as a trusted technical specialist, with autonomy to shape outcomes rather than tick boxes. There is no line management, no condition surveys for the sake of it – just pure, development‑led problem solving where your expertise genuinely matters.
This role exists because standard surveying skills won’t cut it. You’ll be assessing residential, commercial and land opportunities, advising on what housing solutions are realistically deliverable, compliant and viable. Your recommendations will inform purchasing decisions and long‑term use, from family homes through to supported housing, hostels and registered care provision. If you thrive on being the expert in the room, this Development & Acquisition Surveyor role will keep you fully engaged from day one.
Your role as Development & Acquisition Surveyor:
- Assess development potential across residential, commercial and land assets
- Apply deep building regulations knowledge to real‑world conversion challenges
- Advise on feasibility for supported housing, care provision and hostels
- Identify constraints and opportunities at pre‑acquisition stage
- Provide clear, defensible technical recommendations to senior stakeholders
Your previous experience as a Development & Acquisition Surveyor:
- Strong development‑led surveying background rather than condition reporting
- Practical expertise in residential building regulations and compliance
- Ability to interpret and apply legislation, not just reference it
- Experience assessing conversions and change of use opportunities
- Confidence operating independently as a technical specialist
You won’t be asked to manage contractors, oversee sites or produce generic reports. Instead, you’ll be valued for your judgement, your regulatory understanding and your ability to say what works, what doesn’t, and why. This contract offers an immediate start, a clear six‑month scope and the chance to make a tangible impact without bureaucracy slowing you down.
