Property Services Surveyor
North London
Hybrid (1 day per week in office, 1–2 days site visits)
£400 per day (Inside IR35)
3-month initial contract

Reporting into the Commercial Property Manager, you will support the Council’s property portfolio by delivering residential valuations, lease plans, and asset management services. You will have experience in valuation, estate management, and working within a local authority environment.
Your role as Property Services Surveyor:

  • Valuations: Prepare residential valuations for Right to Buy applications under the Housing Act 1985.
  • Reporting: Deliver clear, professional valuation reports for council-owned residential properties.
  • Lease Plans: Produce lease plans for Right to Buy, Freehold sales, and Leasehold Reform Act cases.
  • Review & Sign-off: Assess third-party desktop valuations and ensure timely approval.
  • Rent Advice: Provide valuation advice in relation to housing rents.
  • Estimates: Assist in preparing capital and revenue estimates for acquisitions, disposals, and leasing.
  • Liaison: Coordinate inspections and gather data with internal teams and tenants.
  • Compliance: Ensure all work aligns with statutory obligations and valuation best practices.

Your previous experience as Property Services Surveyor:

  • Experience in residential property valuation and estate management.
  • Knowledge of Right to Buy legislation and housing valuation principles.
  • Strong communication and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Degree-level qualification or RICS accredited (desirable).
  • Previous valuation experience in a local authority or public sector setting.
  • Ability to use CAD to prepare lease plans in connection with Right to Buys, Freehold sales and Leasehold Reform Act.
