An outstanding opportunity has arisen for an experienced Head of Highways and Transportation to lead a high-profile service area responsible for shaping the future of movement, connectivity and public spaces across a major local authority.
You will provide strategic leadership across a diverse portfolio, overseeing highways asset management, transportation planning, road safety, capital programmes and sustainable travel initiatives.
Your Role as Head of Highways and Transportation:
- Lead the strategic management, maintenance and continuous improvement of the highway network and associated infrastructure assets
- Drive the delivery of major capital programmes, transportation projects and public realm improvements
- Champion road safety, active travel, cycling initiatives and sustainable transport solutions
- Provide leadership across multidisciplinary engineering and transportation teams, creating a culture of high performance and innovation
- Influence senior stakeholders, elected members, partners and residents to deliver positive outcomes and transformational change
Your Previous Experience as Head of Highways and Transportation:
- Significant senior-level experience within Highways and Transportation services
- Proven track record of leading complex operational services and infrastructure programmes
- Strong financial, commercial and budget management expertise within a large-scale environment
- Demonstrable experience managing change, improving services and delivering measurable outcomes
- Excellent political awareness with the ability to build trusted relationships across a wide range of stakeholders
