Interim Head of Facilities Management & Capital Projects

£696 per day

Are you an experienced strategic leader with a proven track record of delivering complex property and infrastructure programmes within local government?

Reporting into the Deputy Director Finance and Property and lead multi-disciplinary teams across FM, health & safety, and project delivery.

About the role:

  • You will also take responsibility for corporate H&S, emergency planning, and business continuity, ensuring compliance with legislation and readiness for critical incidents.
  • With direct accountability for major capital investment initiatives—including schools, corporate estate upgrades, carbon reduction projects, and net zero initiatives—you will play a central role in shaping the Borough’s future infrastructure and resilience.
  • Oversee building compliance, statutory maintenance, and facilities-related procurement.
  • Lead on corporate Health & Safety, developing policy, performance frameworks, and an annual council-wide H&S plan.
  • Drive best practice in property asset management, ensuring assets are safe, compliant, and high-performing.

Your previous experience:

  • Substantial experience leading FM and capital delivery services in a local authority or similar complex environment.
  • Proven expertise in strategic property, capital programme management, and facilities governance.
  • Strong background in Health & Safety, with the ability to lead policy, investigations, and council-wide compliance.
  • Experience overseeing emergency planning and business continuity at a corporate level.
  • Confident engaging at senior levels with elected Members, external stakeholders, and multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Relevant Housing qualification, (such as Chartered Institute of Housing CIH) or equivalent experience.
