Are you an experienced senior leader in Risk Management and Insurance within the public sector? We’re seeking a dynamic Senior Interim to lead a high-performing team and shape strategic risk frameworks that safeguard council assets, support service delivery, and align with long-term goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Council’s Risk and Insurance Service, including staff and resource planning.
  • Oversee the Council’s insurance programme and risk self-retention strategy.
  • Drive the development and implementation of the Risk Management Strategy, ensuring it supports strategic and operational objectives.
  • Act as a trusted advisor on insurance, liability, and risk issues, providing guidance to Members, Directors, and Senior Managers.
  • Coordinate the Corporate Risk Register and ensure effective reporting arrangements.
  • Manage insurance budgets and contracts, including those for claims handling and brokerage services.
  • Lead the delivery of risk training and awareness across the authority.

About You:

  • Proven experience in public sector insurance and risk, ideally within a local authority.
  • Strong understanding of legal liability claims and civil litigation processes.
  • Skilled in budgeting, financial planning, and managing external contracts.
  • Experience in managing and developing teams.
  • Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII) or equivalent professional qualification.
