Whilst our client looks to appoint a new substantive postholder, our client is seeking an experienced Strategic Director – Strategy, Change & Communities to join the organisation at a critical time.
With an election year underway and a significant programme of corporate work to deliver, this role is key to maintaining momentum across strategy, transformation and engagement.
About your role as Strategic Director – Strategy, Change & Communities:
- You will report directly to the Chief Executive, operating as one of six Strategic Directors within a relatively flat senior leadership structure.
- You will lead a directorate with a significant corporate-wide remit and strategic impact.
- You will provide leadership across Cabinet and Member support, including senior PA support to the Chief Executive and the interface between performance, the business board and elected members.
- You will drive the refresh and delivery of the Council Plan for the new administration, ensuring work demonstrably adds value to communities.
- You will lead corporate strategy, change and transformation activity, working closely with Resources, the Section 151 Officer and directorates across the organisation.
- You will oversee communications, ensuring clear, effective and politically astute engagement with residents, particularly in the context of an election year.
- You will lead the Connected Communities agenda, strengthening resident voice, trust and participation across Ealing’s seven towns.
- You will provide corporate leadership on commissioning capability, workforce change, equalities, organisational development and health inequalities.
- You will deputise for the Chief Executive when required and operate as a visible and influential corporate leader.
Your required experience as Strategic Director – Strategy, Change & Communities:
- Senior leadership experience within a complex organisation, ideally within local government or a similarly political environment at Director Level within the portfolio.
- A strong track record of delivering corporate transformation, strategy and change at pace.
- Experience of working closely with elected members, senior stakeholders and executive leadership.
- Excellent communication skills with the confidence to challenge constructively and drive innovation.
- Strong analytical capability with experience of performance, governance and assurance.
- Proven ability to lead, motivate and engage a diverse workforce through change.
- Resilience, flexibility and political acumen suited to a fast-moving and high-profile environment.
