3‑month interim contract - start date ASAP. Full‑time hybrid. £500 per day (via FCSA Umbrella). Inside IR35. Remote/Hybrid working. CVs are being reviewed immediately and interviews will likely take place week commencing 4/4/26.

If you’re ready to step into a pivotal leadership role shaping the quality, consistency, and impact of children’s services, then the Head of Children’s Social Care Quality Assurance role is one that will excite you from the outset. Reporting directly into the Assistant Director, you’ll lead oversight of IROs, LADOs, CP Chairs and Fostering Review Officers — ensuring that practice across the system is safe, rigorous, and continuously improving.

As the Head of Children’s Social Care Quality Assurance, you’ll become the driving force behind audit activity, performance insight, thematic learning and the wider quality assurance framework. You will influence senior leaders, guide frontline teams, and create an environment where learning, reflection and improvement are embedded into everyday practice. Your Role as Head of Children’s Social Care Quality Assurance:

  • Lead quality assurance activity, audits, reviews and evaluations
  • Develop and implement QA frameworks aligned to statutory standards
  • Analyse practice quality and produce high-impact reports
  • Drive practice improvement and embed learning across services
  • Facilitate thematic evaluations into key safeguarding and care areas

Your previous experience as a Head of Children’s Social Care Quality Assurance:

  • Strong management background leading multi‑disciplinary teams
  • Extensive social work experience with deep safeguarding knowledge
  • Ability to interpret data, identify themes and trends, and drive improvement
  • Skilled in producing high‑quality analytical reports for senior leaders
  • Experience overseeing Conference & Review Services with professional challenge
