As a Senior SEND Assessment and Review Officer, you will play a pivotal role within a busy statutory SEND service, providing senior oversight of complex casework, supporting colleagues to achieve outstanding outcomes, and ensuring legal compliance across Education, Health and Care processes. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced SEND professional who enjoys problem-solving, quality assurance, and driving performance improvements across a team.
Your Role as Senior SEND Assessment and Review Officer:
- Lead the monitoring and tracking of EHC needs assessments, annual reviews, reassessments and phase transfers, ensuring statutory deadlines are met.
- Identify and resolve delays, risks and barriers, driving cases forward and promoting accountability across the team.
- Provide expert advice, guidance and coaching to colleagues on complex casework and SEND legislation.
- Undertake quality assurance of EHC Plans, decision-making and statutory processes to ensure compliance and consistency.
- Manage a small portfolio of complex, sensitive or high-profile cases, including complaints, mediation and tribunal-related activity.
Your Previous Experience as Senior SEND Assessment and Review Officer:
- Significant experience working within SEND statutory services and managing EHC processes.
- Strong knowledge of the Children and Families Act 2014 and the SEND Code of Practice.
- Proven experience handling complex SEND casework and achieving positive outcomes for children and young people.
- Experience supporting, advising and motivating colleagues while maintaining high performance standards.
- Excellent organisational, communication, analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
